These found object sculptures are composed mostly of the artifacts of work.  The materials used are found in the industrial salvage yards that have been created by the dismantling of U.S. industry and at rural auctions.  When seeing something designed purely for function, the inherent beauty of the successfully engineered object speaks to and inspires me.  The integrity of these objects and their ability to evoke past purpose makes their reuse as elements in my work central to it.  These artifacts may be juxtaposed with consumer items and / or hand blown glass. Recently, the objects used may function in a structural manner, serving as the joints that hold a work together or the base that supports it.  This is a response to the industrial artifacts, tools and farm implements now being used as components of my sculpture.   In the past my use of found objects was strictly visual.

The objects / elements used influence the structure of the sculptures.  The forms created, be they anthropomorphic, gestural or something other are also a response to the elements used.  The perceived relationship between random objects is the starting point for the pieces I create.
